THE ONE TEAM
One is only possible because of a passionate, dynamic, loving and service-minded group of volunteers. For one weekend in January, this team makes a huge conference centre feel like home. The One Team is focused on serving and loving each person that walks through the doors. We seek to be like Jesus, serving with humility and sacrifice. Radical hospitality is our goal! We believe God has gifted us all with unique gifts and this is a chance to use them to bless and encourage others.
“In humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus who….made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant…”
HOW CAN I APPLY TO BE PART OF THE ONE TEAM?
You will need to complete the One Team application on the One Conferences website.
I’VE SUBMITTED MY APPLICATION, NOW WHAT?
Once your form has been submitted, the team will review applications and notify you within a couple weeks if your application has been successful. Individuals that have been accepted will be given a One Team Information pack along with regular communication and updates. Then as scheduling is planned, you will be advised of your team and schedule allocation in December.
WHO CAN APPLY TO BE PART OF THE ONE TEAM?
Anyone who is over the age of 18 and willing to serve throughout the entire weekend is welcome to apply to be a part of the One Team.
HOW MUCH TIME AM I REQUIRED TO SERVE?
We ask that all applicants be willing to serve the entire weekend. You will be scheduled a minimum of 12 hours. Should volunteer applications exceed the number of required hours, priority will be given to applications with greater availability.
In addition, you must be available to attend a mandatory One Team orientation on Thursday January 16, 2020 from 7:00pm-9:00pm.
DO ONE TEAM MEMBERS NEED TO PURCHASE A TICKET?
One Team members do not need to purchase a ticket to serve at the One Conference, however you are responsible for your own travel expenses and meals. Light snacks and refreshments will be available throughout the weekend in the volunteer hub.
WHAT IS THE SCHEDULE FOR SERVING AT ONE CONFERENCE ?
Your schedule for the One Conference will depend on your specific team and will be communicated to you by the Volunteer Coordinator in December. You should be prepared to be available throughout the entire weekend.
WHAT IF I AM ACCEPTED TO THE ONE TEAM, BUT THEN UNABLE TO SERVE?
We understand that emergencies arise and may impact your availability to serve. If you cannot serve, please contact us as soon as possible so that we can fill your position.
WILL I BE ABLE TO ATTEND CLASSES AND MAIN SESSIONS?
You are welcome to attend masterclasses, classes and main sessions when you aren’t scheduled for a shift. However, as a member of the One Team, we ask that you wait for the class to begin to make sure all guests are seated first, standing at the back of the room if there are no seats available.
WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE AT ONE CONFERENCE?
You will need to arrive in time for the mandatory One Team Orientation on Thursday, January 16th at 7:00 -9:00 pm.
HOW CAN I HELP WITH SETUP AND TAKEDOWN?
Some setup will take place on Thursday January 16 th between 7:00am - 3:00pm with the rest on the Friday morning (subject to different venues). Takedown will be on Saturday January 18th, 2020 from 7:00pm-Midnight at the Edmonton Convention Centre. We need as many hands as possible to get ready to go for the weekend and cleaned up at the end. Please advise us of your availability in the application form and we will confirm closer to the time.
I’D LIKE TO SERVE AT A MASTERCLASS, WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW?
Masterclasses are during the day on Friday January 17th January, and will be held at several different church venues around Edmonton. We anticipate that availability will be needed from approx 7:30am - 5:00pm for Masterclass teams. Please pay attention to the location of the Masterclass you’ve been allocated to as the venues will differ.
Volunteers serving at Masterclasses need to be prepared for some flexibility during that time as there will be a variety of tasks needing to be completed that may cross over outside of a dedicated team at the Edmonton Convention Centre.
I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT VOLUNTEERING, WHO CAN I CONTACT?
We’d love to hear from you! Please contact our Volunteer Coordinator - Kimberley Drury: email@example.com
